Building in the open

Where we're headed.

We believe in building in the open. Here's where Dabwetamun Church is headed, what we're working on, and what we're learning along the way.

This year's goals (2026)

ChurchTrac Migration

In Progress

Moving our church management onto ChurchTrac. The software is selected and our existing data has been exported — the import is the remaining step.

Owner: Kennedy Target: Jun 2026

Website Redesign

In Progress

A custom-coded site replacing our Squarespace setup. The new site is already built and previewing at dabwetamun.pages.dev — target is to switch DNS before our July 30, 2026 Squarespace renewal.

Owner: Kennedy Target: Jul 2026

Camp Meeting 2026

In Progress

Our major annual gathering, held the end of August (Sunday to Sunday). Planning is underway — speakers, worship, and outreach to surrounding communities.

Owner: Kennedy & Tiffany Target: Jul 2026

Building Expansion

In Progress

A 36×52 ft addition to the current building, ~$300K total. Includes a 30×40 open area for weekday services, kids church, Bible study, and future noon prayer; four bathrooms (one large/adapted); and a 12×36 mini-lobbette. Construction is proceeding now.

Owner: Kennedy Target: Sep 2026

100 Consistent Sundays

In Progress

Growing weekly attendance from the current 40–80 to a consistent 100, by sharpening our follow-up systems, implementing a Welcome Packet for first-time visitors, and being more intentional about contact collection.

Owner: Tiffany, Kennedy Target: Dec 2026

Hire Part-Time Kids Church Leader

Not Started

Bring on a part-time kids church leader/pastor before or during the expansion build, so the new space opens with leadership in place. Highest-priority hire.

Owner: Kennedy Target: Aug 2026

Hire Church Secretary / Assistant Administrator

Not Started

After the expansion is operational, bring on a church secretary / assistant administrator to take administrative load off the pastoral team and steward day-to-day operations.

Owner: Kennedy Target: Mar 2027

Large Lot Request

Not Started

Requesting and receiving a larger lot from the community to host the future main church building. This is the prerequisite for the next phase of construction.

Owner: Church Board Target: Jun 2027

Additional Church Roles As Growth Requires

Not Started

As the congregation grows past 100 consistent Sundays and ministries expand, we’ll add roles where the need is clearest — children, youth, outreach, pastoral care.

Owner: Kennedy Target: Dec 2028

New Main Church Building

Not Started

A modular or steel-frame main church building on the new lot, with capacity for 250 people. The long-term home of Dabwetamun, planned to follow the larger lot acquisition.

Owner: Church Board Target: Dec 2028

Relocate Expansion Building

Not Started

Once the new main building is up, move the current expansion building to the new lot on a slab and repurpose it for ministry use (kids church, midweek gatherings, overflow).

Owner: Church Board Target: Jun 2029

Currently discerning

Things we're praying about and exploring.

  • Child protection policy

Drafting and adopting a written child protection policy before kids ministry expands further.

  • CRA charity registration

Pursuing federal charity status with CRA — a 6 to 12 month roadmap once we begin.

  • Live worship team recruitment

Building a core live worship team — singers and musicians committed to weekly Sundays.

  • Youth ministry

Discerning what a sustainable youth ministry looks like for our context — the right rhythm, the right leader, the right time.

    Roadmap launched

We published this page today. From here on, it’ll be the public source of truth for what we’re working on, what we’re praying about, and what we’re learning. New entries will land here at least monthly — sometimes more often when something significant changes.

What we've learned

We'll share what we learn as we go — entries appear here over time. Some things we try will work; some won't. Both are worth saying out loud.
